Introduction to Bach Flower Remedies

Hi, I am Marrgalit Ramakryshnan Chordekar and I would like to share my experience of using BACH FLOWER REMEDIES which were discovered by Dr Edward Bach and have been used for over 80 years and are still gaining popularity throughout the world.

I was introduced to this amazing, simple yet profound remedies by a friend, who recommended I take the Bach Remedy Red Chestnut for my constant over concern of my daughter's wellbeing which lead me to being anxious and at times lead to panic attacks which had adverse effect on my health resulting in me having constant knee pain for over 15 years.

I bought the Remedy mix from a local drug store and started taking the Remedy as recommended.  Within 3-4 days I felt calm and centered within and no longer felt anxious or panicked and noticed that I remained calm and composed and was able to cope with my anxiety and day to day activities. I felt peaceful and continued taking the remedy.  Over a span of 4 months I realized that my knee ache had significantly reduced and I  felt happy and peaceful.  Nothing seemed to disturb me any longer, even when things didn't go as I expected. I handled them in a calm and composed manner.  I noticed that my awareness of doing things increased and my stress levels decreased.   I wanted to know the secret of  the miraculous flower remedies and decided to learn about the flower remedies at the earliest.  I enrolled for the Course with the BACH FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL and am now a trained, certified BACH FLOWER PRACTITIONER registered with the Bach FOUNDATION
INTERNATIONAL and my mission is to spread awareness of this beautiful flower remedies to
everyone the way Dr. Edward Bach wanted it to be known, that the Bach Flower Remedies will heal us by restoring peace and balance.  " HEALTH DEPENDS ON BEING IN HARMONY WITH THE SOUL - Dr. Edward Bach.

So here I am writing my first blog on my favourite subject.  Let me begin by giving you a brief history of Dr. Edward Bach (MB BS MRCH LRCP DPH) who was responsible for discovering the 38 Flower Remedies.

Dr Edward Bach was born in the West Midlands in 1886.  He qualified and trained as an orthodox doctor first at Birmingham University and later at University College Hospital in London where he worked as a casualty medical officer and also held the post of casualty house surgeon at the National Temperance Hospital.  He later opened consulting rooms near Harley Street and soon became interested in immunology, leading to research work as a bacteriologist at University College Hospital where he first began to make a name for himself as an original thinker.

In 1919 Dr Bach took up a post at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. Inspired by Homeopathy he began research into healing plants, building a model of health that saw emotional states as the root cause of disease.  From 1928 to 1935 he isolated the healing properties of flowering plants and trees.  The preparation made from these plants became known as the Bach Flower Remedies.

Dr Edward Bach died on November 27,1936.  His work was carried forward at his house at Mount Vernon Oxfords hire by his assistants Nora Weeks and Victor Bullen who worked tirelessly making and supplying the remedies, writing and teaching and doing all they could to spread the word.  The house became known as The Bach Centre.  By 1980 the remedies were so successful and well know that the The Bach Centre could no longer cope with the demands and so asked the Homeopathic company Nelsons for bottling and production of remedies as instructed by Dr Bach.

Today The Bach Centre's focus is on education and the preservation of Dr Bach's name, system and heritage. They supervise Nelsons in their preparation of mother tinctures, many of which use plants from The Bach Centre garden.  The Bach Foundation International Register of   Practitioners validates the work of dedicated practitioners in more than sixty different countries.
